Our Latest Reports

 8/30/10

A.M.. trips are suggested for the next week or so due to this heat wave.  The morning trips have been great consistently averaging 20+ blues on almost every charter and getting anywhere from 1-8 stripers and 20 -30 porgies.  The afternoons porgie numbers have been great but the bass and blues have been hit or miss, catching 25 one afternoon and 8 the next.  The big plus is that we should expect to see some more false albacore and bonito tuna in the mix due to these high temps spicing things up. I’d like to make special mention to the Broder’s from our Sunday afternoon charter group, who (of course after the big bluefish tournament ended) pulled in a 14.13lb bluefish!  This fish would have placed in two categories if it was caught just 35 minutes earlier.  Way to go guys!  Thanks to Hurricane Earl we just got a cancellation for this Saturday’s a.m. spot, 6am -11am.   We also have Monday (Labor Day) open.   Give us a call and (weather providing) we’ll get you in.

8/23/10

Another great week of virtual non-stop action.  Stripers, blues and porgies have been filling the coolers.   Best bass fishing has been in the a.m. and don’t forget blackfish season opens Oct. 1.  Porgies will be going to 40 fish per person starting Sept. 7th.  The “Fall Run” is almost here!

8/16/10

The bluefish keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger.  We got an 18 pound bluefish a couple days ago. LARGE!   The stripers are out there mixed in with the blues, but catches have been down due to the insatiable appetite of the blues.  Some trips saw six bass, while others only one or two.  It’s just difficult getting the bait to them without a blue attacking it on the way to the bottom.  The blues have been providing non-stop action and performing aerial acrobatics that rival those of a sailfish.  Porgies have also been hitting great.  Lots of fish, lots and lots of fish.  Only 2 openings left in August, but our September schedule is still pretty open. Give us a call!

8/9/10

Fast and furious monster bluefish action on virtually every trip!  We’re still getting some bass in the mix, but the blues are simply outgunning them. Today we just caught a 37 pounder which was one of 9 stripers boated today.  Our trips have been averaging 15-20 blues, 2- 4 bass and 20-30 porgies.  We also landed our first bonito tuna of the season which gave one heck of a fight!  Many of our customers this week walked away with blisters and very, very sore arms.

Captains “Fall Run” Bass, Blues & Blacks recommended dates.

The much anticipated “FALL RUN” is almost here.  Large stripers and blues will be migrating through our waters and crashing every type of bait fish imaginable!  This is the time of year fisherman dream about!!! The action will be hot in heavy right through the middle of November.

These trips book up quick, so get your crew together and call early.

Due to various factors such as migratory patterns, moon phases and tidal conditions, the captain has listed the dates below he feels will best for the 2010 “Fall Run” striper, bluefish and blackfish season.

                                                                                                                                                                           Captains Recommendations

  • Fish feed most aggressively around sunup, therefore a.m. trips are always recommended.

  • Due to less people fishing, booking your charter on a weekday will often produce much better results than a weekend.

  • Tell the Captain if you wish to target a specific species of fish; specific species prefer specific stages of the tide. The Captain will tell you the best departure time for your trip.

  • Prime Dates — The following dates are not rules or regulations, they are prime “windows” recommended by the Captain to assist you in booking your charter.
